Back pain and musculoskeletal problems are the leading cause of workplace absence in the UK, aside from minor illnesses1. In 2023, an estimated 6.6 million working days were lost as a result2.
Posture talks and workshops
I offer two corporate packages to support employee wellbeing in this specialist area.
OPTION 1: ‘Three Posture Myths’ presentation
Practical advice on workplace posture, based on the latest scientific research. A fun, interactive session including a slideshow and the opportunity to try things out.
45 minutes in length with a 15 minute Q&A. For up to 25 colleagues. FULL TITLE: “Three posture myths: smash them to stay comfortable at work!”
OPTION 2: One-to-one Posture Checks (full day)
Private posture sessions for colleagues where they receive bespoke advice and hands-on guidance. 20 or 30 minute sessions are available. During the activity, colleagues will:
– discover the habits that are getting in their way;
– explore strategies to avoid pain or discomfort;
– feel lighter, taller and freer in how they move.
Evidence-based approach
My approach is evidence-based.
The presentation (“Three myths”) takes modern posture and pain science, harnessing it to demonstrate how comfort and overall wellbeing can be improved in the workplace.
The individual posture sessions are based on the Alexander Technique, which is an evidence-based approach to posture and pain. Large scale NHS trials have shown that the method has long-term benefits for people with chronic back pain and chronic neck pain. Further studies show that it normalizes posture muscle tone, improves balance and enhances overall wellbeing.
